I love cats. Unfortunately, my husband is allergic to them. We cannot be anywhere cats are without him sneezing within minutes. I always thought Toxoplasmosis was only related to cats, but it is so much more.
It is a parasitic infection that may be contracted by eating raw or undercooked fish, meat, unpasteurized milk or milk products, and raw eggs. My RN advised me not to eat over-easy eggs, as they may not be fully cooked as well as raw sushi. Crab rolls and Tempura rolls was her suggestion to my sushi cravings.
Toxoplasmosis may also be contracted by cleaning a cat litter box or gardening in dirt where cats deposit their feces. To be safe, have someone else clean up after your cat and wear gloves and wash your hands thoroughly after gardening.
